Wednesday, 9 November 2022: Aramark has named Aimi Sano as Aramark Ireland's Barista Champion, after she beat off stiff competition from ten other talented baristas from across Ireland
The grand final, which was held in Bewley’s head office in Northern Cross, marked the end of a highly competitive journey which saw baristas from across the country showcasing their skill and creative flair to secure the coveted title. Winner Aimi, who is from Japan, is a full-time Barista in Galway University Hospital.
The annual competition is designed to showcase the talent, passion and expertise of Aramark’s baristas. Forming part of its popular Brew School Programme, the championship recognises and awards those skilled in the art of coffee preparation.
During this year’s exciting final, each competitor was tasked with creating the best latte art. They were evaluated by a judging panel, who marked competitors on skill and taste, as well as overall presentation technique.
Each of the judges remarked on the impressive skill and passion displayed during the final. When announcing the winner, they cited Aimi’s clear passion for coffee and talent as the deciding factor.
Speaking after her win Aimi said, “It was a wonderful experience to get to visit the factory, see the beans before they are roasted, and observe the roasting process. In addition, I was able to have valuable experiences such as the method of cupping using a single origin and of course the latte art competition. I can't wait for the next one"
